Company Overview: The Preneed Company of America (Precoa) is a national sales and marketing company within the preneed insurance industry. We are the nation’s leading provider of an innovative marketing, lead generation, and appointment setting system called ProActive Preneed™. 

Position Overview: As a Level 3 Web Developer at Precoa you will work directly with business stakeholders and the IT Project Manager to gather business requirements, build new system integrations, internal and external facing web applications as well as provide support and maintenance for existing applications. This position will play a key role in delivering high quality software through writing automated tests, participating in code review, and mentoring Junior Developers.

We’re looking for a creative problem solver who has experience working in full stack web environments. You can see the big picture of how an application should be designed and built to solve complex business problems and deliver process efficiencies across our internal and external user base. You are patient and able to communicate with business stakeholders; translating business processes into technical requirements while taking the initiative to progress our systems and infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Develop industry leading full stack web applications
  • Participate in the entire Software Development Lifecycle
  • Create automated tests to verify business logic and user experience
  • Create and consume REST APIs to integrate data across enterprise applications
  • Identify potential improvements and efficiency gains within current systems
  • Participate in code review following best practices and style guidelines
  • Translate business requirements into consumable technical tasks
  • Additional duties as assigned   

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelors in computer science or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 4-6 years developing full stack web applications
  • Professional web development experience in PHP and MVC Frameworks (Laravel preferred)
  • Working knowledge of relational database design, MySQL/MSSQL
  • Experience using VueJS (or similar frontend frameworks)
  • Working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS (Tailwind CSS preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to translate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Creative with a strong sense of ownership and a passion for solving business problems

Supervisory Responsibility: This position holds no supervisory responsibility.

Accountability: Reports directly to the Software Development Manager.
